Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of restoring the normal positioning and motion to a joint.  This allows proper nerve flow from the brain to each and every organ, tissue, and cell in the body.  Chiropractic is based in the fact that the nervous system controls every and all functions of the body.  When the vital nerve communication is inhibited or interfered with by misaligned vertebrae or other bones, this puts pressure on the nerves that results in pain, numbness, loss of function, and unwanted pressure on the nerves called Subluxation.

What is a Subluxation?

A subluxation is when a vertebrae in the spine has lost their proper position due to a physical, emotional, mental, or chemical stress placed on the body.  Misalignment first occurs causing the occlusion of the opening at which a nerve exits.  When the opening is occluded the lack of space places unwanted pressure on the nerve thus inhibiting vital nerve impulses and important messages for proper bodily function.  The result is dysfunction of the joint and further dysfunction of the body’s organs, tissues, and cells.

Gonstead Method of Chiropractic

Our office uses the Gonstead Method of Chiropractic to locate and correct the cause of our patient’s problems whatever they may be.  The Gonstead system uses thermal instrumentation, motion palpation, visual postural assessment, and x-ray diagnostics to locate the cause of the problem.  After the specific problem is located a Gonstead Chiropractor uses a specific and safe hands-on adjusting approach to correct the problem properly.

The Gonstead Method of Chiropractic was developed by Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead in the 1920’s and is still researched today.  Dr. Gonstead was a mechanical engineer prior to becoming a chiropractor.  After graduation from Chiropractic School, he decided he could do Chiropractic better if he could learn how to apply mechanical engineering principals to the spine and pelvis.

Graston Technique

Graston technique is an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization.  This enables practitioners to effectively address scar tissue and fascial restrictions, resulting in improved patient outcomes.

The technique uses specifically designed instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.  The technique is also used diagnostically to follow the kinetic chain, to locate and treat the cause of symptoms.

For the patient:

  • Decreases overall time of treatment

  • Faster rehabilitation/recovery

  • Reduces need for anti-inflammatory medication

  • Resolves chronic conditions thought to be permanent.

Flexion Distraction Therapy

Back PainNeck Pain. Arm Pain. Leg Pain. Even pain after back surgery. Flexion Distraction is the gentle, safe, controlled treatment for spinal pain relief.

How? Flexion distraction drops intradiscal pressures as low as -192mmHg and widens the spinal canal area by as much as 28%. As a bonus, flexion distraction returns motion to the spinal joints!

How fast? Flexion distraction for low back pain conditions takes just 12 visits in 29 days average. (1) Flexion distraction for neck pain conditions takes just 13 visits average. (2) Now if you have a disc herniation, logically, that will likely take more visits/days than if you have a sprain or strain. Plus, these are just averages. Some back pain and neck pain sufferers find relief in just a visit or two. Now that’s a welcome relief.
